    • He attended Rabbi Jacob Joseph High School, where he excelled as a student and basketball team captain. After graduating, Silver pursued higher education at Yeshiva University and Brooklyn Law School, where he earned his law degree.

    Political Beginnings

    Unlike other aspiring politicians who pursued appointments with city officials, Silver found a unique path to make connections.

    He identified the basketball court where former New York Governor Mario Cuomo played and struck up a friendship with him. In 1976, Silver entered politics as a member of the New York State Assembly.
